What We Do:
We specialize in sales & service for Industrial Motors, Controls, Pumps, Reducers and associated equipment. Any company that uses motors or controls in their operation would benefit from Delta’s technical experience, mechanical engineering assistance and diagnostic problem solving advice.
Delta has two locations to serve our clients: Fairhaven, Massachusetts and Cranston, Rhode Island.
Our 30th Anniversary Story:
It is rare to have 8 sons. It is even rarer to have 8 sons working together in the same company their father started 30 years ago! But Jim, Tony, Mike, Steve, Tom, John, Paul and Ernie are proof that it can happen.
“This is a special year for Delta as we celebrate our 30th Anniversary,” said Tony Rapoza, President of Delta, “Our father feels truly blessed that all 8 of us work so well together.”
Thirty years ago at the age of 51, Anthony J. Rapoza Sr. started Delta Electric Motor and Generator Co. in New Bedford. At that time, he had 9 children with his wife Mary (8 sons & 1 daughter, Mary Lou). Although Anthony Sr. sensed the potential, he never imagined Delta would grow to be large enough to support all 8 of his sons and their families, which includes 21 of the 24 Rapoza grandchildren.
The brothers credit Delta’s growth to innovation, hard work and personal service. What started with repairing motors and generators primarily for New Bedford’s marine, fishing and textile industries has grown into one of Southeastern New England’s leading industrial service companies.
In addition to selling and servicing industrial motors, controls, pumps and reducers, Delta specializes in diagnostic problem–solving and offering mechanical engineering advice for their customers.
One Big Happy Family
“We treat our employees like family. In fact, most have been with us for over 15 years. Some of our employees’ even have their sons and sons-in-law working here,” added Tony. “I think that makes our dad really proud.”
Currently the company has about 30 employees: 20 in Fairhaven and 10 in Cranston.
